My oldest sister had our first niece and we thought the world of her. It didn't make me feel any older but it did make me feel "Special" to have a niece and to be an Uncle.
We lived in Georgia and they lived in Tennessee and we didn't get to see them as often as we would have liked but we managed.
Soon it was time for her to go to Kindergarten and she needed to get her supplies. We happened to be with her at that time in the Summer and it was fun to see her get so excited getting everything together.
Finally the first day of Kindergarten arrived and when she got to Kindergarten she looked at her mother and said, "I can'[t go in yet because I don't have everything that I need." My sister was surprised at this because she had gotten everything on the list. Then Beverly said, I garden.don't have a shovel or a rake or even a hoe. Then my sister said she grinned and said, "Honey it's Kindergarten not Kinder Garden."
